This month focuses on marine environmental monitoring and includes abstracts from presentations given at the Nationally Relevant Environmental Monitoring workshop held in Canberra on 20 and 21 October 2009. 

There was a diversity of talks at the workshop covering almost all aspects of environmental monitoring in Australia.

We have selected 5 talks that cover the need for a new national paradigm to bring environmental values into the mainstream, examples of integrated monitoring systems where collected data informs management decisions and how to choose indicators.
