This figure illustrates sampling lines undertaken as part of an AUV survey of the broad mapped area of shelf reef near the shelf-break within the Flinders Marine Park. The lines are each one km long and were selected on a GRTS sampling design to most effectively quantify the extent of cover of habitats and species within this shelf-edge reef component of the AMP. In the 2003 AUV survey, 25 x one km lines were completed, with continuous and overlapping stereo imagery collected on each of these lines. In addition, AUV-mounted HD video was also collected on multiple lines, to determine the adequacy of this technique for surveying epi-benthic fish species.
