Tasman Fracture Marine Park lies south of Tasmania, extending from the continental shelf around Maatsuyker Island to the edge of Australian waters. This is a high-energy environment, where currents arriving from east and west clash over a battle-scarred seascape of sediment plains, dunes, cobbles and reefs, troughs, plateaus and peaks. Despite these challenging conditions, research here has yielded important information on species depletion and recovery.
